As a retiree who continued teaching for six years after retiring, I only got intentional about looking at alternative occupations or callings in August of 2013. My neighbor, who was a fellow faculty member and my physician and friend as well, retired and initiated her own year of discernment. This sounded like a good idea for me, so I joined her in committing for a year to think about what was next for me. Continue reading

The Spirit arrived with the others on a warm summer day in front of the tall Celtic cross that hovered over the old graves in the churchyard. It was noon, the same time as the violent firing of the pistol shot that killed the priest, prophet, and patriarch whose body was lying there at the foot of the cross surrounded beneath the ground by the bodies of his children and their mother.
